Life Integration Coaching:
Beyond Balance to Life Integration

Be a Fan of Life©

You are unique and so your Fan of Life© will be too. It looks a certain way right now, whether you intentionally designed it or it happened by default.

Now you can create your future (YOUR LIFE!) by design. This page will help you do just that. But first it's helpful to get more familiar with the different parts of the fan.

The Blades

Everything in life falls into these 5 principal areas. At any point in your life, your primary focus is on only 2 or 3 areas. The blades are all inter-connected and impact each other. For example, your career affects your relationship and finances and well-being; your finances affect your relationships; your personal growth affects your career and your career impacts your personal growth!

The Motor

This is you. Your talents, skills, abilities, achievements; who you are in your various roles; everything you do. This is you the doer, the achiever, the goal setter.

Most people try to get the fan (their life) to work with just the motor. They never really turn the electricity on - that connection to the power source that's in the middle of the fan.

The Power Source

Within the motor, there's the power source. That's You, your higher potential, the you of your dreams, who you Really are.

When the power is turned on, the blades move in harmony and become a circle of energy, creating a positive force that has far-reaching effect. This is Life Integration!

I'm sure you've already experienced this. Think about a time when you were doing something and everything was just clicking, going perfectly, almost on its own! You were tapping into this part of you....and it created flow.

If this makes sense to you, then I invite you to apply it to your life and design your own fan. If you own a business or work in a corporation, you will also want to check out how to design a Fan-tastic Business using this model

How to Design Your Fan of Life©

Step 1. Decide what you'd like each area of your life/blade to look like.
Click on the fan blades to explore the five areas to get some ideas about what each means for you. What's included will be different at different times in your life. What captures the most attention and is your priority also will change at different times in your life.

Read through the description of each fan blade and start to think about and jot down what you really want for that area of your life.

There are additional resources listed to help you get clearer about what you want. They are PDF files that require Adobe Acrobat Reader to open. If you don't have this installed on your computer, you can install it here. It Is FREE!

Sometimes a good way to identify what you want is by looking first at where you are now. A good starting point is The Quality of Life 100 that will give you an overview of these areas of your life and more.

Career/Professional
This is your work. It may be your job/career, a business you have or want, a practice you're building. This can also be the activities that are your contribution to the world, even though you may not be paid for them. For example, a stay-at-home mom; a retiree who does volunteer work; a student who is doing an internship.

If you do these assessments, you'll have some ideas about how you want the blades of your fan to look. Then the next step is to look at the motor, which is you and how you relate to each blade.

Step 2. Check the motor/you, your talents, skills, and abilities.
Look at the part you play in reaching your vision for each area/blade. Decide what additional skills, resources, and tools will you need. Here are some assessments that will get you started.

An Inventory of Your Strengths looks at the personal strengths you bring to the 5 blades - not so much what you do, but more how you do it.

The 100 Elements of a Person helps you look at what's important to you, what makes you unique, the influences in your life.

Another important thing to consider in looking at what you bring to each area of your life is What Fuels You? Where Do You Get Your Energy and Motivation?

Relationships are an important part of life and therefore one of the blades of The Fan. Actually, all areas of your life are impacted by your relationships with other people. So it's important to know How Good Are Your Communication Skills?

How Stressed Are You? This one can really make a difference to how you're doing in each area of your life.

Ever experience Road Rage? Most of us have, even though we don't act out. But did you know that the anger you feel over everyday events can show up as bad habits that hold you back? Is There Hidden Anger in Your Life?

Congratulations if you've been willing to look at any of the assessments in this section. They can help you locate the energy leaks that may be holding you back from tapping into your Higher Potential. Now let's look at how you are already tapping into it. That's You, the Power Source of The Fan, Your Higher Potential.

Step 3. Look at how you're already tapping into your Higher Potential,
where you're already living a value-based life. Like the rest of The Fan, this is unique for each person. There is no right or wrong. The way most people measure this is by how life is working for them. Is it easy, effortless, and flowing or is it difficult and a struggle? The other measure is by looking at what is showing up for you. Are you getting the results you want in each area?

Here are two checklists that look at areas many people use as yardsticks for true success.

Have you ever heard someone called a Class Act? That was probably their Higher Potential showing!! Read through this Class Act Checklist and come up with your own definition of what Class Act You will look like.

We've come a long way from our Cave Man ancestors. Guess what, we're still evolving. Not just making progress, but really evolving and becoming a 'different breed.' This is about using your mind and your energy in the most effective ways. It's about moving from 'you' doing all the work to 'You' doing it with great joy, ease, and satisfaction. Here are ideas about Ways You Know You Are Evolving in this process.

If you follow these three steps, you'll have a good basic draft of your Fan of Life©. I hope you enjoy this process. The next step is to come up with a plan to set it all in motion, making sure the motor is operating at full capacity and maximizing the energy from the power source.

I invite you to contact me for a complimentary session so I can give you a few strategies that will have you tapping into your higher potential energy by the time we finish the call!

How to Design a FAN-tastic Business

Decide on the 4 or 5 imperatives that most influence the business at this point in its life cycle. These can be tied to Baldrige Award criteria, such as Leadership, Strategic Planning, Human Resources Focus, Customer and Market Focus. Or the focus may not be as broad and the components could include areas such as Organizing and Staffing, Planning and Budgeting, Aligning People, and Establishing Direction.

What is the highest potential envisioned for the organization? It begins with creating the vision… by turning on the energy, not just by cranking the motor. This is accomplished by inspiring the leadership team and all team members to tap into their higher potential and giving them the tools to do so. This is how man reached the moon, which was inconceivable when it was first envisioned!

Imagine what the business would be like if all the employees created their own Career/Business fan based on this empowered vision created through the Organizational Fan. Everyone would be tapping into the energy of higher potential to co-create the organizational vision. The combined energy of all those individual fans would be enough to blow the competition away!

The Process:
The process is basically the same with individuals and with businesses.

1. Identify the major areas of focus - the blades of the fan.
2. Create the vision for each area, using the tools of higher potential and possibility.
3. Then set up a separate fan for each area, creating a new fan from each blade of the original fan. Come up with the components, the specifics of what the vision would look like.
4. Work the process until the specific inspired actions needed to create the vision are identified.
5. During this process, use the tools to access each employee's higher potential. This allows them to tap into all the skills, abilities, talents, and knowledge that they bring to their role (the motor of the fan) in a powerful way.
